Rated 5-paws by hundreds of customers around the world

Peace of mind for a precious pet

I really wanted to learn more about Daisy since she was adopted and had a traumatic childhood. It helped me understand her better and calmed some of my anxieties about her health.

Vanessa

Her tail is wagging more than ever!

Our report showed that Faye had a risk of liver disease, which we have already started addressing with her vet, and she has been more energetic and eating better than ever!

Jonathan

Finding out my dog’s cancer risk was invaluable

My family dog passed away from cancer – so when I adopted Maya, I worried  she might have the same problem. Knowing she carries no genetic cancer risks has been so reassuring.

Crystal

Finally learned more about my rescue pup

Sasha was a rescue and I’ve always wanted to know more about her breed. It was so much fun to see what breeds she carries in her DNA and how they impact her personality!

What is CirclePaw?

CirclePaw is an advanced, reliable, and non-invasive at-home DNA test for dogs, designed to provide 200+ key DNA insights into your pet’s genetic health risks, unique breed mix, and traits.

What does CirclePaw test for?

down arrow
CirclePaw’s DNA tests for dogs look into genetic variation caused by one or more single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in your dog’s DNA sample. Each gene variation has a different impact on your dog – so by processing these SNPs with our proprietary algorithms, our reports can show you the following information:
  • Health reports show whether your dog has an average or elevated genetic risk of developing certain types of hereditary disorders. Knowing this may help you and your veterinarian make more informed healthcare decisions to prevent or diagnose hereditary disorders at an earlier and potentially more treatable stage.
  • Trait reports may give you a further understanding of your pet’s physical, behavioural, and overall well-being traits. In doing so, you can make sustainable and informed decisions to change their habits, lifestyle, or other factors to support their overall wellness.
  • Breed reports show the breed composition of your pet, along with more general details of diseases and traits the breed is predisposed to. This can help you and your veterinarian be more aware of potential diseases your pet could be susceptible to, even if a specific genetic variant was not identified in the Health section of the test results. If your dog is of mixed breed, breed category test results can also help you to understand the underlying compositions of the different breeds.

How does CirclePaw work?

Once you’ve decided which test is best suited for your dog’s health and lifestyle needs, you can purchase our CirclePaw DNA test for dogs and collect your dog’s DNA sample from the comfort of your own home. The test is easy to do, non-invasive, and quick.

Simply follow the instructions inside the CirclePaw packaging to activate your kit through the Circle app – the app will then guide you through the process of collecting your dog’s DNA sample with the two tubes included in the kit. Each kit is intended to test one dog only – if you have multiple dogs, you will need to purchase a separate CirclePaw test for each.

Once your test is received back at our laboratory, it will take around 4 weeks to process your results, which you can access directly in the Circle app!

How do I collect my dog’s sample?

down arrow
Before Collecting:
  • Don’t let your pup interact with objects that are shared with other dogs within 1 hour prior to swabbing.
  • Your dog should not consume any food within 1 hour of swabbing, either!
  • Check your dog’s mouth to make sure there are no food particles or other materials inside. Rinse their mouth with water if needed.
Your kit includes 2 swabs and sample tubes, which should both be used to collect your dog’s DNA sample.

*Note: each kit is intended to test one dog only – if you have multiple dogs, you will need to purchase a separate CirclePaw test for each.

Instructions:
  • Take out the swab.
  • Insert the swab between your dog’s cheek and gum. Rotate the tip for 10 seconds to collect as much DNA as possible. Repeat with the other side.
  • Put the swab into the tube and break it in the middle. Close tightly and shake 10 times to fully submerge the swab in the liquid.
  • Collect another sample from your dog with the second swab and tube.
  • Place the 2 samples inside the specimen bag, then pack it in the box and seal it shut.
  • Follow the instructions in the Circle app to return the sample to us, free of charge!
